Most of us love to shop. We love to collect and display our treasures.
Unfortunately, for some of us, collecting becomes an unhealthy obsession.

Sadly for hoarders, one or two favorite items aren't enough. Before you know it, several hundred broken down fishing poles, old tires, cracked dishes, and garbage will consume a hoarder's home. Hoarders vehicles, their backyard and storage units, will also be at full capacity. Trash will be on the floor, clothing will be ceiling high, and food will be years old. NOTHING GETS THROWN AWAY. 

Hoarding has become a way of life. Hoarders will shop at discount stores, hit garage sales, go dumpster diving and accept every free item offered. Hoarders will climb over piles or put ramps on top of the clutter. Some end up sleeping outside in tents.

This disorder will cause great distress on the hoarder and other household members. Children will want to leave and divorce has certainly been an end result. In extreme cases, hoarders will lose their homes.

Hoarding is a sign of Anxiety, addiction and depression.

Hoarding disorder is also known to be genetic. We now know that brain injuries have also caused hoarding symptoms. A death of a loved one, a job loss and loneliness are also found to be common factors found in hoarders.
Hoarders won't invite people over. They become isolated and lonely.
